Mr. Martin is a Partner at the law firm of Cantilo & Bennett, L.L.P. ("C&B"). He has over ten years of experience in the management, administration, rehabilitation, and liquidation of insurance companies and related litigation. A brief summary of his experience is as follows:

Weston Property and Casualty Insurance Company ("Weston") (August 2022 to Present)

C&B was appointed by the Second Judicial Circuit Court of Leon County, Florida as Special Deputy Receiver of Weston, a property and casualty insurer, in August 2022. Mr. Martin assists with the operation and wind down of its affairs.

The Reciprocal Group and Reciprocal of America ("ROA") (July 2022 to Present)

ROA, a property and casualty insurer, was placed into liquidation by the Circuit Court for the City of Richmond, Commonwealth of Virginia in January 2003. Mr. Martin oversees the final wind down of its affairs.

Senior Health Insurance Company of Pennsylvania ("SHIP") (January 2020 to Present)

Patrick H. Cantilo of C&B was designated by the Insurance Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as Special Deputy Rehabilitator of SHIP, a long‑term care insurer, in January of 2020. Mr. Martin assists Mr. Cantilo with his responsibilities as Special Deputy Rehabilitator.

Capson Physicians Insurance Company ("Capson") (February 2019 to Present)

C&B was designated by the Insurance Commissioner for the state of Texas as Special Deputy Receiver of Capson, a medical malpractice insurer, in February of 2019. Mr. Martin assists with the operation and wind down of its affairs.

Southern Title Insurance Corporation ("STIC") (January 2015 to Present)

C&B was appointed by the State Corporation Commission of the Commonwealth of Virginia as Counsel to the Deputy Receiver of STIC, a title insurer, in December of 2011. Mr. Martin assists with the operation and wind down of its affairs.

Related asset recovery experience includes:

  • Southern Title Insurance Corporation v. Mohiuddin, Adv. No. 16-315, 2017 WL 2123870 (Bankr. S.D. Tex. May 12, 2017), in which an $8.5 million fraud judgment and adjudication of nondischareability was obtained;
  • Cunningham v. Uddin, No. 2012-29600 (334th Dist. Ct. Harris County Tex. October 2, 2017), in which a $1.7 million breach of contract judgment was obtained;
  • Uddin v. Cunningham, No. 01-18-00002-CV, 2019 WL 4065273 (Tex. App.-Houston [1st] August 29, 2019), in which the judgment obtained in Cunningham v. Uddin was affirmed on appeal; and
  • HBKY, LLC v. Kingdom Energy Resources, LLC, et al., No. 6:21‑cv‑00101‑GFVT, pending before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, Southern Division at London.
